My Story
From orphan to singer
Diane Andrews was born to a mother who was on drugs, living in poverty, and struggled with various addictions. Sadly, her mother didn't know who Diane's father was, and she abandoned her and became an orphan. Diane was put into the foster care system and was eventually adopted by Christian parents who raised her as their own and showed her what it meant to be loved. With her new family, she grew up in rural Appalachia of northern New Jersey. Diane had a humble childhood surrounded by nature and mountain life. Although loved by her new family, Diane still struggled with feelings of abandonment, feeling unworthy, broken, and lost. She had been singing since the age 2 and started writing songs as soon as she could put pen to paper. Dedicating herself to music helped her find healing from feelings of hopelessness and was a way for her to express her struggles. Her family encouraged her gifts in music by putting her in private voice lessons, music composition, multiple instruments, and faithfully drove her to NYC to get professional training. Having been through a lot in her young life, Diane still felt broken and unworthy of love. One night she opened her bible and found comfort in the Psalm 139, where she read that God knew her before she was even born and had made her for a purpose. She then knew that even though her earthly mother and father had abandoned her, that she had a Heavenly Father who loved her and would never leave her nor forsake her. Having found a new hope and purpose for her life, she began using her gifts in church by singing in the church choir, worship team, and even leading worship and writing worship songs to sing at church services. Diane always knew that music was what she wanted to pursue, and so she continued studying and traveling to study with master musicians where she could hone her craft. She is now embarking on a new chapter as an emerging artist, currently self-producing an EP with a collection of her own original songs and starting to tour. She gives workshops to young Christians about their worth as a Child of God, and she started a non-profit organization 'Child of God' Advocacy for Foster & Adopted Children, and those from broken homes. She is a mentor and is currently writing a devotional to give to those in foster care and from broken homes. Diane wants all to know they are not abandoned, but they have a Heavenly Father who cares for them and loves them dearly.
